Great price, but connectors are flimsy. Already knocked one loose while installing. Also, this switcher is limited compared to Boss ES-5 and ES-8, as well as the Musicomlab EFX-LE II. First, this only runs four serial loops in parallel with another four serial loops. This means that pedals within Loop 1 are contiguous with each other. Same for Loop 2. As such, thus would be more useful for running in front of amps and less useful for running in stereo effects loops.Keep in mind that this unit cannot rearrange loops in non-sequential order. Further, it has no ground loop lifting switch, isolated transformer, or phase reversal, which limits this to running into one amp and not two for stereo or dual mono applications. The minimal width size is nice, but depth spacing can be awkward on a pedalboard because it is about half the depth of an average Boss pedal. Since no pedals will fit on a half-sized slat, the space is wasted on some boards. All in all, though, you get what you pay for in this case. If you are OK with some limitations, then it is a great value and a bargain. I suggest using it for the front end into one amp with the following types of pedals: distortion —> overdrive —> EQ —> Compressor —> Boost. Put the distortion and overdrive in Loop 1 and EQ/compressor/boost in Loop 2. Run output for all pedals out of Loop 2 into the front end of your amp. Since this unit has buffered bypass that cannot be deactivated or moved, unlike such features on the MusicomLab unit, wah and fuzz pedals should be run before the Joyo. Wah and Fuzz pedals generally hate buffers in front of them. Pitch shifters like the Digitech Whammy should run first before wah and fuzz. Sources for my recommendation: Joyo manual and principles garnered feom Mason Marangella, aka “The Rig Doctor” on YouTube. This is a great controller for the money. its long and narrow, allowing plenty of clearance between switches, the ability to use 4 loops in your amp's effects loop, as well as triggers to control your amp widen tge versatility of your rig tremendously. it has very sturdy all metal construction, and is very simple to program. this will be the front of my effects board for a good while. the only down side is the way the Mute switch cycles the tuner.I'm hoping I'll be able to make use of this unit, the "instructions" are of no help at all in broken English. This site is going downhill ...Love the durability and ease of use. Came recommended from a friend who has the same switcher. Works perfectly. Joyo has earned a customer for life. Instructions are a direct translation, best bet is to hop on youtube and watch some tutorials, other than that its awesome.
