...Im taking a quick break from playing, because I feel compelled to let producers / musicians know. The Future: This keyboard is revolutionary. Im the picky type about keybeds, the action & feel of the keys when Im playing synths. My midi boards must have very playable, expressive feel and high build quality. I dont like clanky, cheap, noisy distracting keys of most brands.Compositions: Very responsive playing, the layout allows for playing quicker, thus laying ideas down faster. 1st thing I noticed when playing on this, my melodies come out quicker and honestly better than before. Its a new and inspiring way of playing, its look, a refreshing change from centuries of traditional black and ivory. My theory is, the pad layout and velocity allow my brain to react quicker, like drum style, to where Im going next. It just feels so much quicker to get ideas out versus regular keys.Aesthetics: The lights are beautiful. In my dim studio, each note lights my fingertips with each touch, as if the pad light & sound are an extension of your hand. An amazing experience. Ive been playing keyboards since the digital 80s, the QuNexus has so much charm and fun factor in its aesthetics and ease of playability. Solo or chords, the compact size and pad layout didnt negatively effect my playing at all, it feels more like my brain, fingers and the pads are one. The build is solid, has a non-slip, no fingerprints, slightly rubber touch that feels right.Improvements: The octave shift key blinks when set - or +, at a rate that conflicts with the bpm of your song project. Not a big deal, its all mental, but can be distracting when youre locked into a session.Id like to see a 37 key version, to have more range playing bass solo with left, and chords/melodies on the right. I can do this on the 25, but I would like to go an octave deeper for the bass, but that's nothing but a quick midi nudge in my daw, done.Final Word: Great for travel or studio. USB, MIDI, CV, they left no electronic musician out of the loop, everyone can join in. Almost speechless about the emotional connection I feel when playing this. It feels futuristic, has a Tron / Blade Runner personality, like a tech toy, but its no gimmick. Playing on this feels awesome. Its an interactive playing performance Ive never felt before. I love it. I demo'd keys and playing feel of a few other compact boards @GC, but no dice. I decided to wait, and Im glad I did. The QuNexus arrival has changed my entire perspective, I honestly can't go back to full size synth keys after playing on this.Congrats Mr. McMillen & Co. This is the best compact midi keyboard.
